I only had 6 days, but Namibia delivered one of the most unforgettable trips of my life: climbing the famous Sossusvlei dunes, eating apple pie in the middle of nowhere, breathing in the Atlantic air in Swakopmund, chasing shipwrecks on the foggy Skeleton Coast, and standing beneath the granite giants of Spitzkoppe.

This itinerary is your shortcut to planning the perfect Namibia road trip in shorter time then most—complete with travel tips, costs, and the must-sees.

Best Time to Visit Namibia

• May–September: Dry, clear skies, perfect for road trips.
• October–April: Hotter, with occasional rains but fewer tourists.

Day 1: Windhoek – City Arrival & Road Trip Prep

I landed in Windhoek, Namibia’s laid-back capital, after a short flight from Johannesburg and immediately learned two things:

1. You must watch a car rental safety video before driving.
2. 70% of travelers experience a flat tire. Get a 4×4 SUV with full insurance (tires & windscreen included).
3. Gasoline (August 2025): about €1 per liter.
4. Distances look short on the map but are very deceiving.
5. On gravel roads, do not exceed 70 km/h. They are slippery, almost like driving on ice.

That evening, I checked into a cozy Windhoek guesthouse, stocked up on snacks (biltong is a must), and got some rest before the adventure.

Where to Stay

• Budget: Tenbergen Pension Hotel
• Mid-Range: Olive Grove Guesthouse – Boutique charm with pool & garden.
• Luxury: The Windhoek Luxury Suites – Friendly, clean, great for solo travelers.

Day 2–3: Sossusvlei & Deadvlei – Walking on Another Planet

Why Sossusvlei Is a Must

Sossusvlei is Namibia’s postcard. Towering red dunes, a sun-baked white clay pan, and blackened 900-year-old trees that look like a painting. It’s surreal, it’s harsh, and it’s one of the most photogenic places in Africa.

The drive from Windhoek takes 4–5 hours. The first part is asphalt, but most of it is gravel roads—loose and slippery like driving on ice. Take your time, and keep both hands on the wheel.

Entrance & Payment

You’ll enter through Sesriem Gate. Guards will wave you to a small building where you buy your tickets (bonus: there are restrooms here).

Fees (valid 24 hours):

• Adults (non-Namibian): N$150 (~€7)
• Children 9–16: N$100
• Namibian citizens: N$50
• Vehicle (≤10 seats): N$50
• Kids under 9: Free

Payment is simple: Credit cards are accepted everywhere. Namibian Dollar (NAD) and South African Rand (ZAR) are used interchangeably.

How to Visit Main Viewpoints & What to See

From the gate, a paved road leads deep into the desert. Along the way, you’ll pass several marked stops:

• Dune 45: Best climbed at sunrise. The golden light on the dunes is unreal.
• Big Daddy Dune: At over 300m, it’s one of the tallest dunes in the world. Climbing it is tough but rewarding.
• Deadvlei: The showstopper—a chalk-white clay pan dotted with ancient black trees. The contrast with the red dunes and blue sky is unforgettable.

Getting to Deadvlei:

• Option 1: Once you see signs of Deadvlei, park at the lot and you will see official 4×4 shuttles you can take for around 100 N (safe & stress-free).
• Option 2: Drive your own 4×4 through deep sand (I do not recommend unless you have prior experience, it is not for beginners—this is where most tourists get stuck).

Tips for Ladies Who Want Great Photos At Deadvlei

Wear something comfortable for the drive, like loose pants and a light sweater. When you get to the main parking lot, you can change into your photo outfit. I wore a white flowy dress, a light sweater for the wind, and neutral sandals. It was easy to climb the dunes, and the pictures came out beautifully.

Where to Stay

Accommodation near Sossusvlei sells out months in advance. Book early if you want prime sunrise access.

• Budget: Hammerstein Lodge – Where we stayed, it was an amazing experience and the buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner was so delicious!

• Mid-Range: Desert Quiver Camp – Self-catering chalets with sweeping desert views.

• Luxury: Desert Whisper – Need I say more? Just look at how cool this place looks!

Pro Tips

• Stargaze at night— AN ABSOLUTE MUST! There is no words for how INSANELY clear and abundant the sky looks in person. You have to see for yourself! The Milky Way here is brighter than you’ve ever seen, you feel SO small and all of sudden all of your problems go away & you are still & present.
• Bring layers: mornings are freezing, afternoons scorching.
• Carry at least 2 liters of water per person.
• Don’t underestimate dune climbs—they look short but are exhausting in desert heat.

Day 4: Solitaire & Swakopmund – Apple Pie & Ocean Fog

Halfway to the coast, Solitaire appears like a mirage in the desert. A tiny desert outpost famous for its apple pie, it’s a perfect quirky stop to stretch your legs. Rusted vintage cars dot the sand, giving it that wild-west-in-Africa vibe.

Stop in Solitaire: The Desert’s Hidden Gem

Halfway to the coast, Solitaire, a tiny desert outpost, appears like a mirage in the desert. Don’t miss:

• McGregor’s Bakery – Famous for their legendary apple pie. Seriously, it’s a must-try with vanilla ice-cream!
• Vintage Cars & Desert Artifacts – Rusted cars scattered in the sand give this tiny town a “wild west in Africa” vibe, perfect for photos.

Pro Tip: Fuel up here if needed — it’s one of the few petrol stations before Swakopmund.

Stops on the Way to Swakopmund

Driving from Solitaire to Swakopmund, I made two memorable stops along the C14:

• Solo Quiver Trees – Along the desert stretch of the C14, two lone quiver trees stand strikingly against the barren landscape. You can easily park on the roadside and take a short walk to them (Google Maps link here).
• Tropic of Capricorn Sign – A famous latitude line that circles the Earth, marking the southernmost point where the sun can appear directly overhead. Perfect for a quick photo stop.

Arrival in Swakopmund: Where Desert Meets Ocean

As you reach Swakopmund, you’ll feel the temperature drop and see fog rolling in from the Atlantic. This is the start of the Skeleton Coast, where the Namib Desert meets the icy waters of the ocean — creating a mystical, almost otherworldly atmosphere.

Things to Do in Swakopmund

Swakopmund offers a mix of adventure, history, and coastal charm:

1. Explore the German-style streets & pier

1. Stroll along Lüderitz-inspired architecture, old colonial buildings
2. The Swakopmund Pier is a local favorite—perfect for a walk, sunset views, or just relaxing by the ocean.
3. Great for photography, people-watching, and soaking in the seaside vibe.
4. Adventure Sports: Dune Boarding & Quad Biking
   • The massive sand dunes just outside Swakopmund are perfect for adrenaline seekers.
   • Guided tours available for beginners and experienced riders.
5. Local Bakeries & Cafés
   • Pretzels, strudel, and fresh pastries await in the cozy town bakeries.
   • Don’t miss Cafe Anton and The Tug Restaurant for local favorites.

Important Tip: Most accommodations in Swakopmund don’t have heating systems. If you’re visiting during the colder months, I recommend calling to make sure your accommodation has heating.

Day 5: Skeleton Coast & Sandwich Harbour – Ghostly Shipwrecks & Epic Sand Dunes

Sandwich Harbour 4×4 Tour – Dunes Meet the Atlantic

If there’s one coastal adventure you cannot miss in Namibia, it’s Sandwich Harbour. Picture this: giant Namib Desert dunes tumbling directly into the turquoise Atlantic, flamingos wading in the lagoon, and seals lounging on the shore — all in a 4×4 safari adventure that feels action packed.

Why You Can’t Self-Drive: The route is remote, unmarked, and the soft sand is treacherous. Only experienced guides know the safe paths and best viewpoints. Trying this solo is risky — so a guided 4×4 tour is absolutely essential.

Best Time to Visit for Clear Views

• Avoid Fog: May–Sept mornings are foggy; afternoon tours increase your chances of clear skies.
• Optimal Months: August–October and Feb–April usually offer the clearest, most photogenic conditions.

• Driving Time: ~2 hours north to the start of the dunes
• Tour Duration: 4–5 hours (It flies by I promise)

Day 6: Spitzkoppe & Dinner in Windhoek – Granite Peaks & Local Flavor

Leaving the coast, I drove inland to Spitzkoppe, Namibia’s “Matterhorn.” These dramatic granite peaks rise from the desert floor, dotted with natural arches and ancient rock art. The landscape feels raw, spiritual, and otherworldly — a must-see for any Namibia road trip.

• Departure: Swakopmund
• Driving time: ~1.5 hours on mostly asphalt roads
• Easy to reach with a 4×4 or SUV

What to Do

• Hiking & Photography: Short trails lead to stunning rock formations and panoramic desert views.
• Ancient Rock Art: Discover San rock paintings — some over 2,000 years old.
• Sunset Views: Perfect time for photos as the granite glows orange and red.

Pro Tip: Bring water, sun protection, and sturdy shoes. Even a short hike feels epic in this desert landscape.

Back to Windhoek

After Spitzkoppe, I returned to Windhoek. The smooth asphalt makes the drive relaxing, giving you time to reflect on the trip.

Before dinner, I made a quick stop at Christuskirche, Windhoek’s most iconic landmark. Built in 1910, its sandstone walls, red-tiled roof, and stained-glass windows gave me a quiet moment to reflect on the journey.

I wrapped up the trip with a farewell dinner at Joe’s Beerhouse, a lively local favorite known for its hearty meals, cold beers, and fun atmosphere — the perfect way to celebrate my last night in Namibia.The next morning, I returned my SUV and felt that six days had flown by, yet the road trip was everything I hoped for.

Namibia’s Story: Desert, Diamonds & Wildlife

The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world, with dunes older than many civilizations.

In the early 1900s, diamonds were discovered by accident during railway construction near Lüderitz. This sparked a diamond rush, leaving ghost towns like Kolmanskop frozen in sand.

Namibia’s wildlife is extraordinary: from roadside oryx (the national animal) to elephants, lions, and rhinos in Etosha National Park.

Other highlights to add to your trip if you have time:

• Fish River Canyon, the second largest in the world
• Kolmanskop Ghost Town near Lüderitz

• Distances are long, but the constantly changing landscapes make driving here an adventure in itself.

I’ve never been anywhere like it. There’s truly nothing else like Namibia in the world. I can completely see why so many people spend two weeks—or even longer—here. Six days wasn’t enough for me, but if you’re on a timeline like I was, this itinerary is the perfect way to experience the very best of Namibia’s raw, breathtaking beauty.

Uber isn’t available yet, so here are the best options:

Renting a Car

Ideal if you want freedom to explore remote spots like Bathsheba. Driving is on the left but roads are not bad to navigate around. Book early during high season.

Buses and Minivans

My sister & I were on a budget so we opted for buses, although we felt we could see/do much more if we had a car. Public transportation is cheap and gets you where you need to go, with a bit of local flair. There are 3 different buses to look out for.

• City Buses (Blue with yellow stripes): Government-run, cover the whole island, fare about BBD $3.50 (~$1.75 USD), some have WiFi and AC.

• Yellow Minibuses: This bus is fully yellow with a blue stripe. Privately run but follow similar routes to the city buses.  You’ll hear reggae music blasting, and it’s a fun, budget-friendly option for short rides, especially along the South Coast. Price: $3.50 BBD ($1.75 USD).
• 
• White Vans (Locals Call Them “ZR Vans”): They’re smaller, faster, louder, and often pack in as many people as possible. It can feel overwhelming and claustrophobic at first, but if you’re up for a wild ride and want to travel like a local on a budget, this is a great option. If a bus looks too crowded, no worries—just wait a moment, and another one will come along soon. Price: $3.50 BBD ($1.75 USD).

Tip: Look for bus stop signs, carry small change, and brace yourself for a wild ride.

Taxis

If you’re staying at an Airbnb without an airport shuttle, you’ll probably need a taxi to get to your accommodation. The cost is around $50 USD from the airport to most areas, which can add up. Taxis are convenient but tend to be pricey for longer trips. Always confirm the fare upfront to avoid surprises, and if you’re traveling with friends, splitting the cost can make it more budget-friendly.

Instead of following a strict itinerary, this section highlights the top activities in Barbados, so you can choose what interests you most:

1. Best Beaches to Visit

West Coast – The Luxurious West

The West Coast is known for its calm, crystal-clear waters and high-end resorts, making it a favorite for luxury travelers and families.

Worthing Beach

(Worthing) Quiet and peaceful, this beach is ideal for swimming and spotting fish. It’s close to small shops and cafes for a low-key afternoon.

Pebbles Beach

(Bridgetown) Near the Hilton Barbados Resort, this beach has calm waters, perfect for swimming or paddleboarding. If you’re an early riser, I highly recommend catching the local tradition of racehorses swimming in the sea.

Sandy Lane

Although Sandy Lane Beach is lovely, I accidentally discovered a different route that led us to a completely secluded beach. We ended up right in front of a small, high-end hotel, but the spot felt like it was all ours.

Access: Start at Rihanna’s mansion at One Sandy Lane (two birds, one stone!). Beside it, take the path to the beach—her backyard! Wade through shallow water and walk the shoreline until you reach a secluded spot. For the adventurous, climb the rocky stairs to Sandy Lane Beach—it’s a bit tough but worth it. One of my trip highlights!

The Boatyard Beach Club

(Bridgetown) A fun spot with activities like snorkeling, rope swings, and water trampolines. The entrance fee covers access and a food and drink credit, making it worth it if you want a lively vibe.

The Richard Haynes Boardwalk

 (Hastings) A scenic walkway stretching along the coast, with small beaches and spots to grab a bite. It’s a laid-back area for a casual evening stroll or an easy beach day.

Hidden Gem Photo Op in Bridgetown

We accidentally discovered a hidden beach access while waiting for the bus—a long sandy walkway with a bright yellow wall leading to stunning turquoise waves. Swimming isn’t safe due to strong waves, but it’s perfect for vibrant photos. Don’t forget sunglasses; the sun is intense!

South Coast- The Calm South

Miami Beach

Located in Oistins. Perfect for families, with calm waters on one side and gentle waves on the other. Vendors nearby sell snacks, and you’re just a short walk from the famous Oistins Fish Fry for fresh seafood.

Crane Beach 

Located more Southeast part of Barbados. Famous for its pink-tinged sand and cliffside views. It’s swimmable when the waves are calm and is easily accessible via The Crane Resort or a public path. There’s food and drinks available nearby, making it a good spot for a relaxed day.

East Coast – The WILD East

Bottom Bay 

Bottom Bay is the most perfect postcard spot in Barbados, known for its towering cliffs, lush coconut trees, and stunning views. First stop is Bottom Bay, while the beach itself isn’t swimmable due to strong currents, it’s a breathtaking place to relax and take photos. There are no vendors or facilities, so pack your own snacks and water.

WARNING: We were lucky to meet a friendly local who guided us to Bottom Bay near the road end and shared cautionary tales, including one about a drowning incident. No matter how good of a swimmer you are, I recommend not going into the water.

Access to Bottom Bay:  Once you reach the end Bottom Bay Road, follow the cliff paths left until you find long rugged stairs leading to Bottom Bay Point.

Viewpoints Near Harrismith Beach

After climbing back up the stairs from Bottom Bay, we continued along the top of the cliffs. The walk between viewpoints are quite short and offers jaw-dropping views of the coastline—perfect for a peaceful stroll or taking incredible photos. I highly recommend you pack light so walking around wont be a pain.

Hidden Gem: Harrismith Abandoned Castle in Bottom Bay

On our way, we stumbled upon an abandoned seaside mansion! Harrismith Great House was built over 100 years ago by Roland Henry Taylor, and was once a luxurious retreat for a prominent sugar plantation owner and his family. Today, it stands in ruins, offering an intriguing glimpse into Barbados’ colonial past and a great backdrop for unique photos.

Harrismith Beach 

Harrismith Beach is about a 25-minute walk from Bottom Bay. Secluded and serene, it’s a hidden treasure that’s rarely crowded. We were the only tourists, it was nice to witness the locals enjoying the beautiful island with their families.

Access: Google Maps Link The walk to the beach includes navigating a cliffside path and descending rugged stairs, so wear comfortable shoes. Once there, the peaceful atmosphere is well worth the effort.

Bathsheba Beach

Known for its rugged beauty and massive rock formations, it’s a surfer’s dream. Swimming isn’t recommended here, but it’s a great spot to soak in the scenery or explore tide pools. Nearby, there are a few local spots for food.

Harrison’s Cave

Harrison’s Cave, located in St. Thomas parish, is a stunning limestone cave filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and flowing streams. Explore it on a guided tram tour—entry is about $30 USD for adults and $15 for kids. It’s easy to reach by car or taxi (free parking available), and public buses stop nearby, though some walking is required. While you’re there, check out the nearby Welchman Hall Gully for a peaceful forest stroll.

Barbados Wildlife Reserve

Location: Near Farley Hill, northern Barbados
Entry Fee: ~$10 USD for adults; free for children under 12

Near Farley Hill, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve is a serene spot where monkeys, turtles, and deer roam freely. Visit around 2 PM for peak wildlife sightings. It’s easy to reach by car or bus, with free parking, and close to scenic Cherry Tree Hill and Farley Hill National Park.

St. Lawrence Gap

St. Lawrence Gap on the south coast is known for nightlife, great food, and beachfront views. Perfect for a sunset stroll and dinner, with nearby beaches like Dover and Maxwell. Easily reached by taxi or bus, though parking can be tight. We stopped a few times to snap photos by the beachfront hotels.

The Animal Flower Cave

Location: Northern tip of Barbados
Entry: ~$10 USD for adults, ~$5 USD for kids (includes guided tour)

The Animal Flower Cave is best accessed by car or taxi since public transport doesn’t serve this remote area. It features stunning ocean views, unique rock formations, and peaceful natural pools. Nearby cliffs offer great spots for photos and enjoying the scenery.

3. Where to Eat in Barbados

As a foodie, this was one of my highlights! Since we were on a budget, we made breakfast every day and kept snacks on hand, though groceries were still pricey. If you like spice, definitely grab a bottle of Amanda Bajan Pepper Sauce! Here’s a mix of budget-friendly spots and higher-end options we tried:

Budget-Friendly Options

• Chefette: A beloved Bajan fast-food chain found across the island, serving fried chicken, rotis, and ice cream. The food here was actually very good!
• Doubles/Roti Stands: These local stands, especially near Bridgetown, offer fresh and filling doubles, as well as chicken or goat curry rotis, at unbeatable prices. We would stock up on them to enjoy during our day trips to the east.
• Oistins Fish Fry (South Coast): Almost every local will tell you to visit Oistins Fish Fry on Friday night. Enjoy freshly grilled fish, tasty sides, and live music. A great place to experience local vibes.
• Cuz’s Fish Shack (West Coast): A beachside spot that serves up amazing fish sandwiches, or “fish cutters.” It opens at 11 am, so be ready for a line. Grab one and enjoy the turquoise waters nearby.
• Worthing Square Food Garden (South Coast): An outdoor food court with 18+ vendors offering dishes from Venezuelan arepas to pasta. Perfect for diverse tastes.

High-End Oceanview Options

• Champers Restaurant Barbados (South Coast) : Elegant dining with fantastic ocean views.
• The Tides Barbados (West Coast): Offers upscale dining in a gorgeous beachfront setting.
• The Cliff (West Coast): Fine dining with breathtaking views, perfect for special occasions. Reservations are highly recommended.

After our hike, we headed to nearby Vieux (Old) Nice. Instead of backtracking, we took a right path with small viewpoints and stairs leading down to the charming village. It’s a peaceful way to explore—wander the historic streets, snap photos of pastel homes, and visit the vibrant flower market at Cours Saleya.

Coco Beach

Coco Beach in Nice is a hidden gem & my main highlight of my time in Nice. We took about a 20 minute bike route from central Nice, but you can also drive or take a taxi, with street parking available. The beach offers crystal-clear water, calm waves, and a great spot to swim and relax. It’s not crowded, making it perfect for a quieter beach day.

Where to Eat:

Old Town – Sini & Jiji: For a quick bite, I highly recommend Sini & Jiji for some of the best pizza slices I’ve ever had. They have small outdoor tables where you can sit and enjoy your meal. For an Italian dinner, check out La Voglia or La Favola.

Hotel Negresco’s Restaurant The perfect restaurant if you’re on a baecation with your partner, and are opting for a more romantic vibe. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect. We chose to sit outside on the patio, but dining indoors is equally amazing, with its beautiful interior design.

Le Méridien’s Rooftop Restaurant: You don’t need to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy the panoramic views Le Méridien offers. Why not make the most of it and have dinner while you’re there? I recommend booking a reservation for sunset. While the food isn’t particularly remarkable, it’s the perfect spot to dress your best, dine with a loved one, and take in the views.

Peixes: This top-rated seafood spot in Nice has 2,000+ glowing reviews. Though I didn’t visit, the photos and menu—ceviche, clams, oysters, seafood linguine—look amazing. Definitely worth trying!

Day 3: Antibes

Antibes is also a great option for a place to stay, in addition to Nice.

What to Do:

Bay Of Billionaires

One of the highlights of my France trip! The Bay of Billionaires is surrounded by stunning billion-dollar homes. We took a taxi to avoid parking hassles, then walked down a path lined with high fences (with small glimpses of the mansions) leading to the bay.

You’ll know you’re there when you spot an abandoned sailboat on the shore. The water is crystal clear but rocky, so swimming is best for those experienced—be prepared to waddle through stones before reaching the deeper, calmer areas.

For thrill-seekers, there’s a second access point with cliffs for jumping or a ladder for easier water entry. Simply hike up from the main bay and follow the path to reach it. Just note that this area is only for strong swimmers due to occasional rough waves.

Antibes Promenade

Walking along the promenade is a must after a dip in the Bay of Billionaires. About a 15 minute drive from the bay, also stop by Port Vauban, Europe’s largest marina, to see all the impressive boats. Along the promenade, you’ll see colorful homes, unique statues, and even couples dining on charming Romeo and Juliet-style balconies.

Along the promenade, they even have a nearby rocky beach called Plage De La Gravette to take a dip in or tan.

Old Town Antibes

Don’t miss a sunset stroll through Old Town Antibes—it felt like a scene from a romantic movie. Browse boutique shops, jewelry stands, and dessert spots. You can also check out the Picasso Museum, the Provencal Market, and take in views of Port Vauban and its yachts.

Plage de la Garoupe

Plage de la Garoupe is a peaceful beach about 10 minutes from Antibes Port. Best reached by car or taxi, it has clear water, soft sand, and some rocks. I didn’t visit myself, but a local recommended it as a relaxing spot.

Where to Eat:

Angelo’s: A local favorite serving delicious Italian cuisine. We tried the truffle linguine and octopus with squid mashed potatoes, both were very good. The street patio was the perfect place to enjoy our meal.

Restaurant Chez Mô (Albert 1er) et Poissonnerie: For my seafood lovers, I highly recommend this restaurant. Just check out the Google reviews and pictures as they speak for themselves.

Marché Provençal: I don’t know about you, but I love nothing more than walking through food markets in Europe, where the fruit is so colorful, and they have only the best cheese, spices, and vegetables.

Day 4-5: Monaco

After checking out of our hotel in Nice, we hopped on a train to Monte Carlo, Monaco. Fun fact: Monaco is its own tiny country within France—so small you can drive across it in just 20 minutes! Known for its luxury, casinos, and the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix, Monte Carlo also offers stunning views, upscale shopping, and plenty of charm packed into a small space.

Where to Stay:

• Fairmont Monte Carlo – Luxury hotel by the F1 hairpin turn with Nobu, Nikki Beach, and sea-view rooms.
• Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo – Iconic 5-star stay next to the casino, featuring Michelin dining and beach access.
• Novotel Monte Carlo – Affordable, modern hotel near the station with a pool, gym, and garden terrace.

What to Do:

Fairmont Hairpin Curve

Right in front of the Fairmont Monte Carlo is the iconic Grand Prix hairpin turn—one of the race’s most exciting spots. You’ll see luxury cars and lots of photo ops. For a better view, climb the beige staircase by the Casino or the one on the opposite side.

Nikki Beach Restaurant & Beach Club

If you’re a beach club lover, you’ve probably heard of Nikki Beach. I first experienced it in Miami and loved the food, vibe, and energy—so I had to check out the one at the Fairmont Monte Carlo.

Hotel guests get free pool access, while non-guests can book a daybed for €50–€75. Don’t want to swim? Just stop by the restaurant or bar—no reservation needed.

After taking a dip in the pool and tanning on the daybeds, we snacked on some fries, guac & chips and had a cocktail and it was perfect.

Plagu Du Larvotto

Just a 20-minute walk from the hairpin turn, this public beach is great for a laid-back afternoon. It’s lined with shops and restaurants, and while access is free, you can rent a lounge chair if you want extra comfort. Bring a towel, floaty, and water shoes—the beach is sandy with some pebbles. Avoid bringing valuables since it’s a public spot.

Casino de Monte-Carlo

One of the world’s most iconic casinos, the Monte Carlo Casino is known for its elegance and Hollywood fame—featured in films like Casino Royale and GoldenEye. Outside, you’ll find crowds gathered to admire the luxury cars and the glamorous vibe. Inside, expect grand chandeliers, opulent decor, and high-stakes gaming rooms frequented by billionaires and celebs.

Entry costs about €17, which gives you access to the gaming rooms, and if you’re looking to take in the full experience, dress your best—you’ll definitely want to look the part!

Garden in Front of Casino

Walking through Les Jardins du Casino, I was struck by how peaceful it was. The greenery and fountains made for such a nice contrast to the excitement of the casino. It felt like the perfect spot to pause and take a few photos.

Night Stroll on Boulevard du Larvotto

For the perfect Monte Carlo backdrop, take a nighttime stroll along Boulevard du Larvotto. The city lights reflecting off the high-rises and mountains create a stunning view. Bonus: you’ll spot billion-dollar yachts lined up along the marina—pure luxury vibes.

Bonus Tip: Though I didn’t visit myself, I’ve heard the Tête de Chien offers stunning panoramic views of Monaco, the harbor, and coastline from high above. Just a heads-up—the hike can be tough and take 2–3 hours, so be prepared!

Where to Eat:

Amů: I had the best experience at AMU for my birthday, located in the Fairmont Monte Carlo. Not only did they have a cute flower backdrop that was perfect for my birthday pictures, but they also served some of the best food I’ve ever had with ocean views in front of you! I ordered the Mezzes, which included pita with an assortment of dips, and they were all divine. We also had the ceviche and prawn linguine—10/10! I miss it. Please go, and thank me later!

Caffè Milano, La Note Bleue, and Buddha Bar are local and tourist favorites, offering great dining experiences with top reviews. These spots should definitely be on your list of restaurants to check out when in Monaco.

Day 6: Èze

Eze is a great day trip from Monaco, but it’s so beautiful that I can see why someone would want to stay longer. Check the map widget below for the ideal stay in Eze based on location and price.

What to Do:

If you’ve rented a car in Nice, driving from Monaco to Eze takes about 15 minutes without traffic—up to 30 minutes during busy times. The route is very scenic. I recommend avoiding Uber or taxis, as fares can be pricey (around €40), especially in peak season.

Vieux(Old) Eze Village

Eze Village is where I would imagine Romeo & Juliet to live, it’s so enchanting & cute. This medieval hilltop village is perched high above the coast, filled with stunning stone buildings and greenery draping down from the rocks, with tall, bush-shaped trees, pink flowers, and cacti.

You’ll find boutique clothing shops, perfumeries, galleries, restaurants, and a lovely garden to explore.

You can walk through the entire village in about 20-30 minutes, so it’s quite small. The village is also free to explore.

Jardin Exotique

Don’t miss the Jardin Exotique at Eze’s highest point. For around €6, you’ll see exotic plants and enjoy stunning views of the coast, mansions, and Monaco—perfect for photos.

Le Chevre d’Or Viewpoint Terrace

Le Chevre d’Or is a luxury hotel in Eze with a beautiful terrace offering another great viewpoint of the French Riviera. It’s a perfect pit stop if you’re looking to take in the views—while I’m not certain about the full menu, I did see people enjoying coffee and snacks.

Perfume Workshop

Although it didn’t make it onto my itinerary, I’ve heard that visiting the Fragonard Perfume Factory in Eze is a must if your into fragrance. You can create your own custom scent and learn about the art of perfumery.

Day 7: Menton

Menton, known as the “Pearl of France,” is a charming, colorful coastal town just a short drive from Monaco. With its relaxed yet sophisticated vibe, we spent half a day exploring before returning to Monaco to check out.

What to Do:

Menton Public Beach

This charming, picture-perfect beach is perfect for relaxing with a floaty while snapping stunning photos of the colorful village from the water. Nearby restaurants and shops make it easy to grab a drink or bite, and outdoor showers are available to rinse off after swimming.

Walk Through the Village

First, head to the famous yellow Escaliers in Menton, which take you up to the Basilica of Saint-Michel. I recommend doing this first then beach after as you will be sweating after exploring As you walk through the village, you’ll notice the narrow streets, vibrant buildings, and more views of the coastline.

I suggest heading up to this viewpoint for a nice view of Menton from above. You can easily find it using this Google Maps link.

Jardin botanique Val Rahmeh-Menton

Jardin Botanique Val Rahmeh in Menton is a botanical garden to explore with a variety of exotic plants. Entry is around €3, and it’s best to visit in the spring when the flowers are in full bloom; it’s located just a short walk from the city center.

Bonus Tip:  If you’re planning your trip during the Lemon Festival in February, I am jealous. It’s a famous event in Menton that celebrates the town’s lemon harvest with colorful parades and massive citrus displays.

Whether you’re here for the history, the blossoms, or both, this Ultimate Washington DC Cherry Blossoms 2025 Guide is your go-to resource to catch that magical, time-sensitive bloom of iconic cherry blossoms.

Every year, the National Park Service and blossom fanatics predict the perfect time to catch them in full bloom because, yes, it’s that unpredictable way in advance. In this blog, I’ll break down when to visit, best locations for the blossoms, plus bonus tips on where to stay and the best photo ops to make the most of your trip. Let’s dive in!

What’s the Best Time to Visit for the Peak Bloom?

The peak bloom itself is when 70% of the cherry blossoms are fully open, so keep this in mind when you hear “peak bloom.” The perfect bloom time isn’t the same every year because it all depends on the weather, especially colder winter temperatures, likely pushing the bloom into early April.  For example, unusually warm temperatures led to peak bloom as early as March 15 (1990), while cooler temperatures pushed it to April 18 (1958).

DC local weather networks, like The National Park Service (NPS), release these peak bloom predictions around February or March. While no firm predictions are available just yet, historical data suggests the bloom window is between the last week of March and the first week of April.

For example, these were the peak dates in the last five years:

• 2024: Peak bloom occurred on March 19.
• 2023: Peak bloom occurred on March 17.
• 2022: Peak bloom occurred on March 23.
• 2021: Peak bloom occurred on March 21.
• 2020: Peak bloom occurred on March 28.

Why is 70% Considered Peak Bloom?

The 70% mark for peak bloom is considered optimal because it’s when the majority of the cherry blossoms are fully open, creating a stunning visual display, but not yet too far along where the petals start to fall or get damaged by weather conditions. At 70%, you get the most vibrant, full blossoms, creating that perfect moment for photos and viewing.

If the bloom were to reach 90% or beyond, the blossoms would begin to lose their pristine appearance, as they start shedding petals, and the blooms may not last as long due to exposure to wind or rain. So, 70% represents the sweet spot where the trees are at their most photogenic and impactful.

How Long Do the Cherry Blossoms Last?

Cherry blossoms have a short lifespan, typically lasting only a few days. If the weather cooperates, they can last up to two weeks. However, factors like rain, wind, or unexpected warmth can shorten their display. This makes planning your visit crucial. The blossoms will still be beautiful a week before and a bit after peak bloom.

2025 Winter Weather Update

January is expected to bring colder temperatures, which could delay the bloom a bit because the longer it is cold, the later the bloom is likely to occur. However, La Niña—a climate pattern that can bring warmer-than-usual conditions—might result in an earlier bloom. If the winter stays cold, we could see the bloom in early April, but if temperatures warm up, it may happen around March 20. Right now, many are predicting the bloom will be between March 21 to early April. Keep an eye on updates as the season unfolds!

Cherry Blossom Festival Dates & Events

The best strategy for experiencing Washington DC’s cherry blossoms is to plan your visit during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, since they also have top insight on peak bloom times. In 2025 this event will run from March 20 to April 13, so keep these dates in mind. It includes events like the Cherry Blossom Parade, live performances, open-air markets, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the stunning blooms.

Tidal Basin Reconstruction Project Impact

If you’re planning to visit the Tidal Basin for the cherry blossoms in 2025 or 2026, be aware there’s a construction project underway. This will affect the area, with some cherry trees being removed and parts of the basin less scenic. The Tidal Basin will still be open for walking, and there will be plenty of cherry trees to enjoy, though not as many as usual. It might look a bit different, but it’ll still be a great spot for photos and to see the blooms.

Top Locations to See the Best Cherry Blossoms in D.C

1. Tidal Basin: The most iconic spot for cherry blossoms, featuring a scenic loop walk with stops at the Thomas Jefferson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorials, as well as the Japanese Pagoda and Tea Lantern. Due to the Seawall Reconstruction (2025-2026), some walkways may be closed and fewer trees may be visible, but many will remain.

You’ll see a steep dirt road; drive up to the gate where workers will open it for you to park. From there you will walk a short, well-maintained hiking trail (about 10 minutes) that leads to the waterfall.

Why Visit: It is a hidden gem indeed so its possible you will have it to yourself or with a few locals only.

Tips: Bring water shoes for the rocky areas, visit early for the best lighting and fewer crowds, and pack snacks and water as there are limited vendors nearby, although there are washrooms onsite. The water can be chilly, but it’s perfect on a hot day.

3. Damajagua 27 Waterfalls

Location: Puerto Plata

Why Visit: Perfect for thrill-seekers and adventure lovers, featuring a series of 27 waterfalls with natural slides and pools.

Tips: Buy a locker to store your belongings (trust me, it’s worth it). Wear water shoes for a comfortable experience.

How to Get There: I highly recommend a guided tour from Puerto Plata that includes transportation, a guide, and all the necessary gear for exploring the waterfalls.

4. Salto Baiguate Waterfall

Location: Jarabacoa

How to Get There: A short drive from Jarabacoa, followed by a short hike. To reach Salto Baiguate, search for “SALTO BAIGUATE” in Google, as other addresses lead to the wrong location; there are toilets at the entrance. The walk to the falls is scenic but requires some caution with steep, deep steps and a drop in certain areas; it’s about a 10-minute walk, and asking locals for directions is recommended for the best experience.

Why Visit: A beautiful, easily accessible waterfall with a calm swimming area. Perfect for families and beginner hikers.

Tips: The water can be quite cold so be aware and make sure to have comfortable shoes for your walk there.

How to Get There: There are many tour options you can google that include transportation, a boat ride, and a guided experience to Bahía de las Águilas. Most visitors travel from Santo Domingo, taking a guagua (bus) to Barahona, the nearest city to Pedernales. From there, you drive to La Cueva, a starting point marked by a large open cave. You can either take a rough road to the beach or hire a boat, which can be arranged in advance or on-site.

Consider anything more a rip-off. I highly recommend staying in Las Galeras, as all of these beaches are easily accessible from the town.

2. Playa Frontón

Location: Samaná Peninsula

Nearby Attractions: Las Galeras, Playa Madama, El Limón Waterfall

How to Get There: The safest way is by boat from Las Galeras beach, you can arrange the tour same day or in advance at the beach. Another option is to drive to La Rancheta in Las Galeras and hike 4.5 km to the beach.

Tips: The beach gets full sun until noon, then is shaded by the ridge. Avoid hiking from Boca de Diablo—it’s dangerous. No facilities, so eat beforehand or bring snacks unless included in your boat tour.

3. Playa Rincon

Location: Samaná Peninsula

Best Time to Visit: Weekdays for fewer crowds.

Piazza Venezia: This central square is dominated by the impressive Vittoriano monument, featuring a grand statue of King Victor Emmanuel II, symbolizing Italy’s unity and independence.

Mercure Hotel Rooftop Head to the Mercure Hotel just before sunset, make a beeline for the elevators and head up to the rooftop. You’ll be greeted by a beautiful pool, but your gaze will quickly be drawn to the view ahead. To your left, you’ll catch a unique vantage point of the Colosseum that you won’t see anywhere else. Bring your digital camera and your best outfit—thank me later!

Ponte Palatino Bridge To get the exact viewpoint shown in the picture, head down the stairs from the Palatino Bridge. Along the way, you’ll find a lively mix of restaurants, shops, and bars, creating a vibrant atmosphere. This ambiance is present year-round, though it’s especially dynamic in the summer and evenings. It’s the perfect spot to either find a quiet nook & relax r or let loose and have a great time.

Gardens

Villa Borghese: Rome’s central park, Villa Borghese, is perfect for a stroll or a boat ride on the lake. It’s easy to reach from the city center by walking or public transport. The park is free to enter, though the Borghese Gallery inside requires a ticket and advance booking. Enjoy the gardens, fountains, and sculptures, or rent a bike or scooter to explore further.

Explore the perfectly manicured gardens of Villa Melzi, accessed through a grand entrance that leads you into a serene landscape. The perfect destination for a photo shoot as it is filled with vibrant flowers and statues, with glimpses of Lake Como peeking through the bright green foliage. Entrance is FREE.

Late Afternoon

Experience the sereneness of kayaking as you paddle at your own pace, enjoying the serene beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains. Highly recommend you make a stop along the many secluded private beaches in Lake Como. Kayaks are typically available for rent from various water sports rental shops along the lakefront.

Day 2

Morning

Have some breakfast and plan your morning to shop around along the main streets and within the historic center. Look for shops selling various items like artisan crafts, fashion, jewelry, and souvenirs. In Bellagio, you can shop along the main streets and in the historic center. However, be prepared for higher prices, especially for designer clothing and souvenirs.

Afternoon

A private boat tour is an absolute MUST when in Bellagio. You’ll be provided with your own boat, giving you the freedom to navigate the lake at your own pace after a brief orientation on boat operation and safety. Cruise along the shoreline, passing stunning villages like Varenna, stopping at iconic landmarks such as Villa del Balbianello, and don’t miss the medieval Nesso Bridge with its waterfall for a photo op and history.

Café Sanremo is the perfect pitstop for stunning views of Lake Como and delectable food after a day of exploring and shopping. Conveniently situated on Via Garibaldi in central Bellagio, it offers fresh deli and cheese boards, sandwiches, salads, snacks, coffee, drinks, and an array of tempting desserts like tiramisu.

La Punta The ideal spot to visit before or after your private boat excursion on Lake Como. From here, you’ll enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the picturesque waterfront, dotted with passing boats and nearby villages. La Punta has authentic Italian cuisine with dishes like carpaccio, salads, and a variety of pastas. I highly recommend trying the classic spaghetti with tomato sauce and basil—it’s simply perfection.

Ristorante Bilacus I couldn’t recommend Ristorante Bilacus enough in terms of ambiance, delicious food, and atmosphere. Head upstairs and sit outside the patio deck, the perfect place for a romantic evening dinner.

On my quest to find the finest Sagrada Familia viewpoints, I stumbled upon Parc de la Creueta del Coll — a true hidden gem.

I followed the well-marked trail to the top of the mountain, and the view stopped me in my tracks: the expansive turquoise pool below, swaying palms, the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, and, right in the middle, the iconic Sagrada Familia.

The park also offers picnic areas and a cozy tapas bar — perfect spots to relax after soaking in the views.

• How to get there: Metro L3 to Vallcarca, then a short walk or hike up

• Pool entry: €2.50 (summer only, opens at 9:30 am)

• Facilities: Clean restrooms, picnic spots, tapas bar

2. Terraza Ayre at Rosellon

The rooftop terrace, Terraza Ayre at Rosellon, is an unbeatable spot to sip sangria while watching the city pulse beneath you. The menu features tapas, sandwiches, pizzas, and burgers — a bit pricey but worth every euro for the view and ambiance.

• How to get there: Metro to Verdaguer station, then a short walk to Ayre Hotel Rosellon

3. Mount Tibidabo

For panoramic vistas that include the Sagrada Familia, the Mediterranean, and distant peaks, Mount Tibidabo is the spot. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and enjoy views from the summit, then explore the nearby vintage amusement park.

• Getting there: FGC train from Plaça Catalunya to Avenida Tibidabo, then Tramvia Blau and funicular.
• Entry: Free church access, €3 for the lift to the viewpoint.
• Exploring the Area: The Tibidabo Amusement Park is a short 10-minute walk from the Sagrat Cor Church, offering vintage rides and great views. Ticket prices vary based on attractions and experiences.

4. Hotel Alma Barcelona Terrace

Hotel Alma Barcelona is definitely more on the “bougie” side, offering a luxurious stay with stunning views of the city, including the Sagrada Familia. The hotel’s terrace matches just that and provides not only a stunning vantage point but also delicious food to enjoy.

Cuisine: Although a little more on the pricey side, the on-site restaurant offers a range of Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine.

Getting There: The Hotel Alma Barcelona is conveniently located in the heart of the city. You can easily access it by various modes of transportation, including walking or public transit.

5. Bunkers del Carmel

As we come to a close, let me take you to a spot where history and urban flair collide – the Bunkers del Carmel. A spot that used to be a hidden gem but is now popular for Barcelona locals and tourists, because well… its that beautiful.

Imagine this: you’re standing on a graffiti-filled historical threshold, and as the sun starts its magic hour show, the Sagrada Familia takes on a silhouette against the horizon. It’s like a dance between eras, where the past merges with the present. You’re not just observing; you’re experiencing. You’re surrounding by the buzz of the ambiance of people eating, drinking and enjoying life but as you look out and stare you feel a sense of calm, silence and awe at your sight.

What to do when Bunkers is Closed?

I actually went on a day where the gates were closed. So I walked a trail slightly down until I saw a brown steel bridge and and wooden fence. Here you will see a bench, big rocks or you can stand and still witness the most perfect view of Barcelona.

Getting there: Take Metro L5 (Blue Line) to the El Carmel station. From there, it’s a bit of a walk uphill to reach the Bunkers del Carmel. The journey is worth it for the breathtaking views.

You will begin to witness this lush green oasis offering the perfect escape to walk, do group yoga/workouts or have a relaxing picnic under a shade of trees. Don’t miss the stunning Cascada Monumental fountain, a masterpiece designed by Josep Fontsére and Antoni Gaudí.

• Explore the Area: Explore the Mammoth Statue, rent rowboats for a tranquil lake ride, admire statues and monuments, partake in skating or cycling on pathways, relax while people-watching, and keep an eye out for outdoor events and cultural festivals.

One of my most magical moments reaching Bunker’s stunning viewpoint after a brief hike. This is hands down the best location for panoramic views of the city. This hidden gem offers breathtaking views of Barcelona’s skyline, making it a perfect spot to catch the sunset. Fun fact, this was once a protective hideout during an Spanish Civil War, and now holds an aura of resilience and history that adds depth to its panoramic charm. Bring a picnic and you will have the best time while the city fills with lights.

• Pack a Picnic: Bring snacks, sandwiches and drinks/alcohol to maximize your experience.
• Hiking Trails: Embark on the captivating trails that wind through the picturesque Carmel Hill area, leading to spots like Rovira Viewpoint and Turó de la Rovira, offering unique perspectives of Barcelona’s beauty.

6. Bo de B Sandwich Shop

Indulge in the local culinary scene at Bo de B, a delicious sandwich shop in the Gothic Quarter. What sets this place apart is the freedom to craft your own masterpiece—choosing from a variety of fresh ingredients like chicken, meats, cheeses, vegetables, and delicious sauces. • Waterfront Fun: Enjoy sunbathing, swimming, beach volleyball, or rent paddleboarding equipment from nearby vendors to explore the vibrant shoreline.
• Beachside Bites: Head to vibrant restaurants such as “La Barca del Salamanca,” “Xiringuito Escribà,” and “Barraca.” These spots not only offer delicious dishes but also provide opportunities to mingle with both locals and fellow travelers.

8. Sagrada Família

No architectural wonder is more synonymous with Barcelona than the Sagrada Família. The construction began in 1882 and has been under construction for over 130 years. The completion date for the entire basilica is projected to be around 2026 to 2032. So grand and magical it is a perfect space to sit, reflect, and find solace in prayer regardless of all the background noise—a perfect sanctuary for moments of gratitude and introspection.

• Book in Advance: Secure your tickets online to skip the lines. Most of the time your ticket comes with audio so don’t forget to grab the headphones they offer and listen along.

How to Get Around Lisbon

With only two days, I suggest using public transport and Uber. Lisbon is very walkable, but the hills and heat can get tough—Uber rides rarely cost more than $10. Electric tuk-tuks with local guides are also popular and a fun way to explore.

Explore São Vicente and Santa Maria Maior Neighborhoods

Do you see this? Lisbon’s neighborhoods carry a mix of historical beauty and present-day charm. With their pastel-colored buildings so faint yet distinct, you will be living in scenes directly from your European Pinterest boards. Walk till’ you drop in order to witness the stunning tiles and cobblestone streets lined with the cutest cafes, you will feel like you have the perfect backdrop at every turn.

Relax at Praça Júlio de Castilho

If you want a quiet escape, Jardim Julio is a green oasis filled with grapevines and bright bougainvillea purple flowers. Sit by the garden’s edge and soak up views of Lisbon while listening to local street performers.

Indulge in Pastel de Nata & Visit Praça do Comércio

You can’t visit Lisbon without trying Pastel de Nata—the classic Portuguese custard tart that’s crispy on the outside and creamy inside. Stop it, im drooling. Find these pastries everywhere, and they’re always a 10/10.

Visit Praça do Comércio, a square overlooking the Tagus River. Walk towards the Cais das Colunas, a broken castle-like viewpoint that is the remains of the Ribeira Palace. A little history fact, the palace was once the residence of the Portuguese kings but was destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. Today, the ruins serve as a picturesque spot where visitors can sit, relax, and admire the scenic views of the Tagus River.

Sangria by the Waterfront at Ribeira das Naus

I had some of the best memories here. This lively promenade along the river is where locals and tourists come to chill with a cold Sangria and good vibes. You get great views of the 25 de Abril Bridge—Lisbon’s Golden Gate lookalike—and plenty of street music.

Eat at Time Out Market

On to one of my favorite topics… food. Time Out Market is a vibrant indoor food market where you can indulge in a variety of dishes prepared by chefs. This place can get quite packed and the seats to eat fill up quickly, but it is a great place to grab a bite and people-watch. From 5-star burgers to seafood to mouth-watering desserts, all the options make you want to come back for more!

Day 2: Explore Lisbon’s Neighborhoods and Coastal Beauty

Start at Praça Luís de Camões & Shop on Augusta Street

Begin your day at Praça Luís de Camões, a lively square in the heart of Lisbon. We took an Uber here from our hotel and walked towards Santa Maria Maior and Augusta Street. Augusta Street located in the vibrant Baixa district, is a shopper’s paradise, featuring a wide range of name-brand stores, boutiques, souvenir shops as well as restaurants and pastry shops. Here I found a cute one called Fabrica de Nata I satisfied my sweet tooth and got to capture my ideal Portuguese mood-board shots.

Don’t miss the Elevador de Santa Justa, a historic elevator offering panoramic city views. Pro tip: locals say there’s a secret way to skip the long line—ask around!

Discover Bairro Alto

Bairro Alto, is my definition of a perfect place to capture the Lisbon aesthetic. It is a neighborhood with artistic flare and an energetic atmosphere. Situated on a steep hill, these grid-like streets provide breathtaking sunset views, making it a perfect spot for memorable pictures. They say you get two different experiences during the day versus the night, where in the day it is calm and at night it comes alive!

Pictured above: Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo is one of Lisbon’s most iconic streets, known for its steep incline and the famous yellow Tram 28 running through its narrow tracks.

Getting here: Hop on Tram 28 from the Baixa or Chiado districts for a scenic ride through Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods, including Bairro Alto. It’s one of the most charming (and photogenic) ways to explore the city.

Relax at Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara

One of my favorite viewpoints, this spot offers stunning views, a charming fountain, and vendors selling refreshing Sangria, which you can have with sparkling or regular wine (so good!). It has a lively but chill atmosphere—great for sitting down and soaking it all in.

Visit Belém Tower

A symbol of Lisbon’s maritime history, Belém Tower looks like a small castle rising from the river. It’s perfect for photos and a bit of history.

Entrance costs around €6.50. You can get there easily by tram 15E, buses 714 or 727, or a quick taxi ride.

Day Trip to Cascais

After exploring all of Lisbon’s best attractions and food, you’ll probably be craving some beach time — I know I did! Cascais is the perfect escape for that.

Just an hour from Lisbon, this coastal town has no shortage of picturesque beaches:

• Guincho Beach – great for surfing
• Praia da Rainha – calm and relaxing
• Praia da Conceição – perfect for families
• Praia do Tamariz – beautiful and iconic

Beyond the beaches, Cascais is full of lively neighborhoods, great food spots, and tons of shops to explore.

Getting there:

The best way to get to Cascais is by train. Head to Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon and hop on the Cascais Line. It’s a scenic coastal ride with stops at Algés, Belém, Santo Amaro, Oeiras, and Carcavelos before arriving in Cascais. Tickets cost around €2.25, and Cascais station is the final stop.

The best way to explore these areas is by renting a car. It gives you the freedom to visit remote spots and cenotes at your own pace. If driving isn’t your thing, taxis and collectivos (shared vans) are affordable and widely available for shorter trips.

Where to Stay: Hotels in Tulum and Playa del Carmen for Every Budget
