The Rice Terraces in Ubud, Bali, are among the top Instagram-worthy spots you can’t miss. They’re everywhere! This photo was taken at the Natya Resorts in Ubud. As you enter this resort you are welcomed by this lush bright green rice terrace that descends beautifully in abstract waves.

If you are not staying here, don’t worry you will certainly see rice terraces on the way from destination to destination. Below in point #6, I will go over a very popular rice terrace in Ubud which is a great location for Instagram pictures!

2. Campuhan Ridge Walk

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is the perfect way to enjoy fresh air and peaceful views in Ubud. The lush, green hills and open paths provide a dreamy backdrop, ideal for capturing those perfect Instagram shots in a flowy dress. Whether you’re after a beautiful sunrise or just want to experience the “Bali vibe,” this trail won’t disappoint.

Admission: Free

Access: The trail starts near Campuhan Bridge, and it’s about 2 kilometers long—ideal for a light walk. The best time to go is early morning or late afternoon when it’s cooler and less crowded.

3. Ubud Monkey Forest

The Ubud Monkey Forest is a MUST-VISIT when in Bali. If you search “Ubud Monkey Forest” on Instagram, you’ll be blown away by all the funny, cute pictures people take with the monkeys. They’re so playful and won’t hesitate to make funny faces, so be ready to match their energy!

Admission: Around $3 USD

Access: Once you enter, there are signs that say you shouldn’t touch the monkeys, but they may approach you. I got lucky and one came to me, it was love at first sight. You can even pay a local to take cool pictures with them! Walking through the forest is so magical you will feel like you’re in a dream, it is also big enough for you to enjoy and wander for hours.

4. Gate To Heaven

The name “Gate to Heaven” really says it all. This iconic spot at Lempuyang Temple is one of the most popular places to snap a dreamy, Instagram-worthy photo in Bali.

When you arrive, local workers (who are basically professional photographers at this point) help create the famous water reflection illusion. They use a little mirror sheet right under the camera lens — and voilà, it looks like you’re standing over a perfect pool of water!

How it works

On busy days, they give you a number and you wait your turn. When they call your name, it’s your moment to walk the runway and show off all your amazing poses.

While waiting, it’s actually super fun to watch other people. Some of the creative things I saw were:

• Advanced yoga poses
• Epic jumps
• Handstands
• Funny group shots
• Full-on model struts

We took a taxi from our hotel to the Gate to Heaven Bali parking lot, where you can buy your entry ticket.

Entry fee: Around $7 USD per person

After getting your ticket, a group shuttle takes you up to the temple area.

Heads up: there’s usually a big line for photos. We were actually the last ones of the day! But honestly, it was still worth it — the picture turned out pretty cool even in the dark.

5. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

If you’re looking for an incredibly refreshing spot that’s also Instagram-worthy, head to Kanto Lampo Waterfall. This spot isn’t as crowded, so you can snap photos without worrying about other tourists in the background.

Fee: Less than $1 USD

Access: There’s a short walk to the waterfall through some steps, but it’s totally worth it when you see the beauty of the falls.

6. Marigold Field in Besakih

Bali is known for its stunning marigolds, which are one of the many Instagram-worthy places in Ubud, Bali. These bright orange flowers are everywhere, and you’ll definitely want to wear a flowy, bright dress to capture that perfect shot.

For the ultimate Instagram shot, you can’t miss the famous swings at Tegalalang Rice Terrace. Hold on tight, because it’s a fun (and slightly scary) experience that will give you the BEST photos!

Access: There are several entrance points, but we found one near a restaurant where a friendly local guided us to the swing. The workers make sure you’re in the perfect position for the best poses.

Located right in the same rice terrace, we took a tour and tried Bali’s famous luwak coffee — yes, the one made from civet poop! (A civet is a small, cat-like animal that eats coffee cherries.) After learning about the whole (very thorough) process, we were surprised at how good it actually tasted. We also sampled different teas with our lovely guide while watching the rain pour over the rice fields — such a beautiful moment.

8. Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple is a magical place, and its stunning ocean views and cliffside setting make it perfect for photos. The clever monkeys here will steal anything that’s not nailed down, so keep your valuables close!

Fee: Free entry for the views. You can also purchase tickets to watch a traditional Balinese dance show at sunset. It was beautiful and entertaining and it turned into a really funny show towards the end. They made it interactive by picking people from the crowd to join (Thank God I wasn’t picked haha)

Access: Uluwatu Temple is a sacred place, so be respectful.

9. Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot is a magical place, home to the sacred and ancient Balinese temple, Pura Tanah Lot. We visited just after sunset, and the mix of the temple, ocean views, and crashing waves was absolutely breathtaking — perfect for that Pinterest or Instagram aesthetic you’re after.

Fee: Free

Access: After parking in the main lot, it might feel a bit confusing to find your way, so don’t hesitate to ask a local for directions. You’ll know you’re on the right path when you start passing by local stores. Once you spot a small replica of the “Gate to Heaven,” you’ll know you’ve arrived.

10. Padang Padang Beach

Padang Padang beach is an absolute must-have on your list! It was so good I forgot to take pictures. It is the most beautiful secluded beach I’ve been to. Great for surfing (you can rent or bring your own), tanning or just relaxing. There are some shops around that sell clothes, bracelets, and beach necessities. Also, there are monkeys everywhere!

Fee: Around $1 USD

Access: Park in the main lot (which I believe is free), cross the street, and head to the stairs where you’ll buy your entry ticket. Take the stairs down to reach the beautiful Padang Padang Beach. A clean bathroom is available just before the stairs.

11. Sunset at Seminyak Beach

Seminyak Beach is a must-visit in Bali, especially at sunset. The sky during sunset is surreal! Nearby restaurants offer lively music, comfy beach chairs, and bean bags. Grab a pina colada, kick back, and relax—you deserve it. Surf equipment rentals are available, and I had a blast on a kid’s board.

Fee: Free

Access: Seminyak Beach is about 30-35 km (18-22 miles) from Ubud, around 1 to 1.5 hours by car or scooter. Traffic can be heavy, especially during peak times. There’s plenty of parking, especially for scooters.

Final Thoughts

Overall, these Instagram-worthy places in Ubud, Bali made my experience in Ubud unforgettable. While the stunning photos on your phone are great, it’s the memories you’ll truly cherish for a lifetime. Ubud is the perfect spot to unwind, de-stress, and let everything go. You’ll feel so present and so blessed.
